Rocket Yankee

So. Everyone is asking, what does Roger Clemens on the Yankees mean?

It's Roger Clemens. What do you think it means? Only good things, and another reason to hate the Yankees. Oh well. So it goes.

Nash's Bloody Nose

3-1 in baseball and see? It's not that difficult.

1-1 with the Nets. After I wrote that I probably should have bet with the points, I dropped 100 on that, and no worries, down 10 bucks now on the B-Ball...good times.

What I'm going to do sometime soon is explain a little about my betting strategy for baseball. Hey, 7-2 in two days that you saw, pretty decent but I definitely don't do that every day--obviously. I've been all right in baseball so far, however, so I'm looking forward to breaking down my method a bit. Well, see ya.

And did you see Nash's bloody nose? Game ball goes to Tony Parker, not only did he have an outstanding game, he delivered the knockout head butt to Nash--unintentional I know, but since I hate the Spurs...pretty damn intentional--and also drew a late hack-a-shaq foul call to make it a 4 point game. Very impressive, Mr. Parker. Very impressive.

Question: does this mean Nash is going to be playing with the plastic guard? Do it, Nash. Do it. It never fails.

Devils Done, Rd 2 NBA

I was a wee bit worried about the Senators, and well, they demolished the Devils. They are my new pick to win the Stanley Cup. As for the Devils, well, better luck next year I guess. I was so excited to see a Devils Rangers series, then they both blew it. Oh well. Good thing I didn't bet on any of that.

NBA, I am making my first wager of the playoffs (am I kidding you? Nope. Seriously, I'm anti-betting in the playoffs, for the most part. Plus, I've had a lot of crap to do lately, so I put that on hold for a while) NJ over Cleveland outright. 100 bucks to win 250. Why not, I got a C-note burning a hole in my account, might as well waste it on the rather foolish idea that Cleveland is going to come out a bit flat while the Nets attack with all they have, start the series with a road win. The line is 6.5, I should have taken the points, but hey...

Gotta do these things sometimes.

Anyway, I was 4-0 in the East for round 1, 1-3 in the West (note: I picked against SA for the greatest of reasons, I hate them. Also, I wanted T-Mac to win so bad, I picked them against my better judgment, and I gave no respect to Golden State. Good job me.)

So...The Eastern Conference finals will be between Cleveland and Chicago. Why? Because I think that is more exciting.

And The Western Conference Finals? Phoenix VS Golden State, because that will be flat out awesome.

If I actually had to bet, however, it would be Detroit Cleveland, Phoenix and Utah. But they aren't my picks, I'm sticking to my entertainment gut. I want it, and I want it now.

Picks Review

Okay, so in my little post yesterday, I put out my bets I did for earlier today, and I went 4-1. Not bad. Def take it. The one misfire was the Atlanta Braves, and Hudson didn't pitch all that bad, Atlanta just didn't score until it was too late. Happens. Look at Halladay, a lot of people lost on him today, but what can you do. I liked how the Yankees rebounded, I like how Santana properly scared me from taking the Sox, who had a chance to win it late on an Ortiz or Manny homer, but it didn't happen. I sort of wish I kept the 100's going with the Mets, but hey, no regrets.

So, I share one day and I go 4-1. Fortuitous or part of a larger pattern? To help you decide, I'll go again. Note: when I say 100 on Yankees (which I will, shortly), I mean I bet whatever I need to bet to win a 100. I don't know, that's just how I roll...I guess. On to the picks.

Second note: The 100 bets, in most cases, involve teams on winning streaks. For example, the Tigers bet I'm about to make, they already made me 400 bucks, since I started betting them once they hit 2. So if I lost this bet, I'd be up about 270 or so, which is not bad. Meanwhile, the Yankees bet I made yesterday, I had to put up 275 to win 100. A bit more risky there, but I was just sure they were going to win--worst thing to do, I know, but you have to sometimes.

100 on Yankees (sticking with the possibility of an upcoming streak).
100 on Tigers.
50 on Baltimore. (Sabathia loses first game this year, Baltimore hits 3)
50 on Oakland.

Easy bets, easy bets.

Stubborn

Okay. Igawa was pitching for the Yankees today, so I made half my usual bet, 50 bucks. Lost it, terrible, but tomorrow it's Wang VS Weaver, so I'm upping it to 100 on the Yankees. I'm rolling with the Mets and Tigers anyway, I'm gonna drop the Mets to 50 though, just cause I'm a wee-bit superstitious (too much to explain)--plus, they're going against Webb. See no reason to stop with the Tigers, roll as long as they take me, even if they lose, their little streak got me more than covered here (began it when they hit 2, for me own reasons, sure) covered here. I was thinking of hitting the Red Sox up, but they are up against Santana, ain't touching that. But I'll hit Hudson and the Braves with 50, and I'm going to do another 50 on Tampa Bay over the Oakland A's...why not.

So, to breakdown, I'm not only sticking with the Yankees, but going for 100.
Tigers for 100.
Mets for 50.
Atlanta for 50.
Tampa Bay for 50.

And I'm done. Let's not get too crazy, and this, my friends, is a sample of some of the bets I do. Not too complicated, no high roller here, feel the pitchers, see the stats, don't go too crazy. I'm not touching the NBA playoffs, not touching the NHL playoffs, cause serious, I'm excited enough as it is just watching and who the hell knows, you know? I don't need it. It's time for baseball. And if I lose all 5 bets? Not the first time, won't be the last time, but I highly doubt it. Usually this is a bit more than I do, actually, btu screw it. It's Saturday baseball, live a little, right?

Dallas Loses, Warriors Win!

The question is, can the Golden State Warriors get healthy? Baron Davis is a god, but if he can't run the court against the Jazz or Rockets...well, I think he'll be all right. Hopefully the Raptors beat the Nets, force a game seven and make everyone wait just a bit longer. If anything, Davis can take it slow for game 1 though of course he won't. Question: who is the better match up for the Warriors to beat so they can play against the Suns in the Western Finals?

Easy. The Rockets. Everyone root for the Rockets to win Game Seven. Both the Jazz and Rockets are great teams, but you know Yao is going to have 7 turnovers a game, and McGrady, I love him, but I'm worried about his not advancing a team past the first round. This way, he can get over that bump, then lose to the Warriors. Please lose to the Warriors and let Baron Davis and company heal up, because I want to see Suns Warriors now, cause I couldn't imagine more exciting basketball. Seriously. Do it.

Do it.

What a Night / Just so you Sports Investors know...

I can't stay away. Part of me accepted the bet I made on the Mets today as a loss. Hey, they won 11 straight times in Arizona, you figure why not 12. It's okay though. Baseball is a long season, from a gambling standpoint, I didn't care. As a fan though, I wanted it...

So Green hits a ball to ex-Met Clark, who pulls a Buckner. Then Lo Duca walks on a couple close pitches, and Valverde loses it. Throws two balls to ex-Diamondback Easley, then a fastball which is absolutely rocked and suddenly, my bet is genius. On top of Mariano picking up his second save (fantasy team, no bet there), on top of this crazy Dallas Golden State game, can you get any better for a Thursday night of sports?

Didn't think so. And we still got the second half of the b-ball game...

PS, plus, Wright just homered to add some emphasis on this win. He's on my fantasy team too, so I'm riding wild tonight.

PPS, and here's some advice for sports investors. Yankees just hit the magic number of 3 straight, and they got Seattle, Texas, then Seattle coming up again. They are angry, and they are ready to go on a roll. Investors, ante up and ride that bull...

But yeah, back to the b-ball game.

Question:

Is anyone else slightly disturbed by Dwayne Wade eating a lollipop in that commercial with Charles Barkley? I just saw it again during this Golden State Dallas game, and what are they trying to say? Weird, that's all I gotta say. Weird.

Barkley must be in NAMBLA or something.

Impressions III, Game 6

Dirk...oh Dirk. MVP? Well, it's a tough series on you, but I have a feeling you're just making it exciting, right? Gonna go down 9 with 3 minutes left before you decide it's time to shoot? Sure. Well, a hobbled Baron Davis and a terrible Dirk is making for just an incredible game. Would you bet on this game? Anything can happen. I didn't, and wouldn't have touched this game with a ten foot pole. True, I am conservative, but c'mon, this is sick. Just sick.

Dallas is down by two at halftime, maybe I'll come back before it's over but I doubt it. I'm just getting back in the groove, you know? I'm hoping Rivera comes in for a second save, I hope the Mets can come back with the bottom of their order in the 9th...but most of all, I just want this Dallas game to end as sick as it began. Well, CollegeBoy out to watch the game, see you tomorrow folks, and I hope I'll be as excited tomorrow as I am right now.

Jesus this is a good game. Oakland fans are insane. I love em.

Impressions II, Game 6

So 25 total points for Dallas before they hit a two, just now tying the game with Baron Davis on the sideline, walking gingerly on a slightly pulled hamstring--oh, who needs hamstrings? The crowd is crazy, I wish I could have been there (who doesn't, right...) But...yeah. This whole series is a true fan's dream. Golden State is just all heart, every play, every little move they make, Don Nelson's scheme of no scheme is genius. It's just a lot of fun, and you know how I've been begging for Mavericks VS Phoenix? Screw that. I want Suns VS Warriors, let's do it Baron. Heal up. Let's go.

Impressions, Game 6

Dallas Golden State, oh my.

Baron Davis Hurt...you have got to be kidding me.

Just the worst thing that can happen right now, he is the motor, the energy, the man for them, but he'll be back. It's all a question of whether or not Golden State can hold the score relatively close. And how amazing are these threes for Dallas? This series is ridiculous.

Earlier, Houston lost in Utah. Everyone saw that happening, right? And here's what a little birdie told me, Houston is going to lose game seven. Tracy McGrady, I love you, I'm going to cheer for you, but...history is history. I hope I'm wrong. I'm not betting...but if I had to, I would go with Utah who will probably be 2, 3 point underdogs. We'll see though.

All right, back to this game.

Random Thoughts

So the Devils are in danger. Do I abandon them? Of course not. They have a solid team, and they can do this. The important thing is to not give Ottawa power plays, they are just scary with a man up. Brodeur has been shaky, really shaky, but well, it's do or die and they are one step away. Tell you what though, they come back from this, I will guarantee the Stanley Cup. And if Ottawa wins, they become the favorites to win the whole thing, telling you all right now.

Too many stories to talk about in baseball, Arod cooled down and what is up with Mariano? He is on my fantasy team and dragging me down, and I keep telling myself to just take him out, maybe pickup Valverde who is for some reason, still available in my league (but he's coming up against the Mets, ain't touching him just yet) but can you sit Rivera? That's how you win champions, or so they say. Last year when I won, I just stuck with my guys through thick and thin, as they say as well, and it turned out all right, so I might as well keep him in--sports investing wise, the lines are going down on the Yankees, and I think a streak is on the way. I made a nice bet the other day, second game of the Red Sox series, I just didn't think the Yankees were gonna lose 8 in a row. I got even money. Not bad.

Golden State and Dallas. Oh my god. Golden State is totally going to do this. I admit, I was down on them, I knew they were 3-0 but 8 seed over 1? Yeah, we think about it, yeah we like it when it happens, but do you wager on that? Could you wager? I didn't touch it, a buddy of mine put money on them to win the series, not a lot, but hey...he's totally rocking it. Speaking of Rocking, this Rockets Jazz series is awesome as well--as long as its in Houston. McGrady and company simply can't play in Utah, take that into consideration for tomorrow.

Cleveland, yawn, Detroit yawn...I almost forgot they were in. Nets Raptors is something special, however, and they should have won that game so bad. Nachbar, 0-7 from 3, who could see that coming? Oh well, they'll take care of business on Saturday. Go Nets...maybe you can sell out actually now.

And the draft...wow, I picked some week to take a break, huh? Well, everyone knows what happened, who did good. Go Cleveland, I'm a fan of the Jets moves, I hate the Patriots and their Madden team will be ridiculous, not bad for the Raiders though--they'll probably get Keyshawn, seeing him at the draft and then what happened, well, that's life. Dolphins are idiots. 49ers were solid, Bills were solid, who did the Giants draft again? Eh, they're all right. I really wanted them to take Brian Leonard, but hey, him and Stephen Jackson, Jesus. I still remember playing with Rutgers in College Football before they were good, every play, Leonard. I hope he makes it in the league, he's a special player.

Well, it's gonna take me a while to get back into form. Even though it's just been a week, you know how it is, feel out the stories, feel out the words, see how they fall...well, I'm back and ready to go. Let's go.

So. What did I miss?

Anything?
